I called and spoke with my contact at Kuat. He stated that the Bike Rack Hitch Lock for 1-1/4 Inch Racks, # HL1, is made of stainless steel. That would include the 5/16 inch diameter pin and the lock itself. There are no plastic pieces on the lock or pin. It is also 12 UNC Coarse threaded.
